I Missed the Memo

Haven't been to church at home in 3 weeks and you usually miss something like a new bishopric or some new quirky thing in the ward that you were unaware of. So there we are sitting and this new convert gets up to say the opening prayer and before I even had my eyes closed for the prayer it was over. He said help us get through the day. I didn't realize it was so tough to be there.
Looked at my wife and shrugged my shoulders. Then the person gets up to say the closing prayer and it too is short...like 10 seconds. I picked up the program to see if had been declared "short prayer day".
Sunday school the same thing...Sue said that she needed to remember that, in case she was asked in RS.
Well, as fate would have it...this brother who is a former Episcopal rector was asked to say the closing prayer who is known for his unique prayers and I said to myself...ah this will break the trend and save the day. NO!!!
"We thank the for revelation and give us more...In the name..." That was it. So we kept the tradition the rest of the day by just using prayer numbers...like prayer for food #44. Family prayer #37...Amen.

Smoked em on the Water

Well I have decided that 2 weeks on vacation is too long. You spend the first week trying to relax and the second worrying about what has gone wrong in your absence. Anyway, I don't know why I have this blog since the only ones that read it are my children.

Being able to spend time with my brother has been great and the fishing for the most part has been the best. As of today we have 166 crappie in the freezer (332 fillets) and 3 kitties (catfish).

We decided that last Friday was the best catch of crappie that we had ever experienced. 10 fish over 2 pounds and only 2 under a pound. That is what we call barn door crappie.

I have had the opportunity to say "bounce" many times because that is what Dad used to say when something went wrong. I told Reed Franklin that and he cracked up. I told him that I can only remember once that my Dad used a cuss word and Reed said that he never heard him cuss.

He used "bounce" instead. Get hung up on a tree "bounce"...the boat motor wouldn't start, "bounce"...you get the picture. Speaking of pictures, here are a few. Read em and weep!!!

Worldwind Tour of the Southland

I have been making a quick trip from Peachtree City to Mobile to Pensacola and now in Tallahassee. One thing is for sure, no one likes the drive from Pensacola to Tallahassee. I drove thru Destin to see if it had changed any and I don't see how those businesses stay open in the off season.
Almost hit a pelican as he flew across the road, luckily his crap missed me. That could have shattered the window and then put my eye out...it is the Christmas season ya know.
Been feeling a little blah tonight, wife is home sick and i don't get home til tomorrow to take care of her. So I listen to Steve Winwood instead. Reminds me of the old cross country trips in college listening to "Low Spark". Like y'all know what that is.
Miss my kids and grandkids.
Has there ever been a rock song with Florida in the title?
Man what a bunch of random crap.
Thought for the day...Did Mormon and the 3 Nephites play any games while they hung out waiting for the Nephites to destroy themselves?
I think that Joseph Smith was right when he said that the constitution will hang by a thread.

Thanksgiving is gone...

Good time was had by all..blah blah blah. As I read the Book of Mormon I think we are so lucky to have such great revelation. Knowing that stupid people still have just as good a chance to get in still disturbs me though. Do you get smarter after the resurrection?
Avery and I were having dinner together last night, and we have started this tradition that when we eat together we have to have music. So I get my Ipod and go to tune in a song and I said to her..."let's pick a different song this time."
And she said, "no, Taking Care of Business" in a 2 year old sort of way.
Man that kid loves broccoli and cheese soup.
Rock Band rocks.
To see stupid people watch this video

4 Hour Sleeping Blocks

I have found for some time now that I sleep in 4 hour intervals. I usually go to sleep quickly and sleep for about 4 hours, wake up to check out the final scores of all of the sporting events that I didn't stay up for and watch TV for an hour and then go back to sleep.
Now my doctor would say that I have a sleeping disorder...duh. But I don't think that taking another pill is what I want to do. What I think would help is for the Cowboys to start winning again, my yard get raked by the a bunch of illegals while I am out of town, and for all of our employees to not give me any anxiety.
I guess the reason I share this is for all those that read this see that we all get affected by crap like this.
Halloween was not very eventful at all. I went to dj for the local high school pre-game dinner, and my wonderful wife surprised me with a birthday cake and brought it up to the school dragging a bunch of reluctant people who were there cleaning up the mess. Trick or treat is not what it used to be. Best costume at our door was a voting booth with two bags of candy...one for the old man and the other for that Tiger Woods guy. that is how she was going to determine who was going to win.

Bad economy...What bad economy?

I had a full day yesterday and went on 6 sales calls and sold 5 of them. People have money, they just are more particular in how they spend it. I am going to start taking my camera and start posting pics of Dog of the Day...they are much cuter than my kids.
A follow up on the polyp...non cancerous...wooohooo. But they did find a geode inside with a hat on.
